Can you survive the infamous, near vertical, mile long climb of the Coffin Trail at either the 10km or 17km course at Hawkshead on 28th April 2012 ? Why not challenge yourself to run a marathon in Olympic Year ? The 2nd Lakeland Trails Marathon in Coniston on 1st July 2012, is one of the most scenic and one of the toughest in the UK. This one is going to sell out quick - the event is already 60% full, so please enter now to guarantee your place. New for this year is the addition of the 1st Lakeland Trails Half Marathon, taking in the first 14km or so of the marathon course.
The Lakeland Trails senior events are split into two to reduce the numbers on the public rights of way. The Challenge sets off first for less competitive runners and novice trail runners, ideal for those wanting to take it easy and enjoy the views. The Race sets off an hour or more afterwards, and is for the competitive boys and girls. Both of these events follow exactly the same stunning, scenic course.
An exciting and fun atmosphere is guaranteed for spectators and competitors alike. Live music with a race commentary and other entertainments all make for a great day out for all the family.
Children's Fun Trails take place when most of the competitors are back from the Trail. These short fun runs for children under 12 are all about having a go. Finishers are rewarded with a special medal, and there are spot prizes too.
