Starting and finishing at Fitz Park, in Keswick, the 5K Derwentwater Sport Trail, 10K Derwentwater Trail Run, 15K Derwentwater Trail Race and 15K Derwentwater Trail Challenge are circuits along well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways, taking in panoramic views of Derwentwater, the surrounding peaks of Skiddaw and Blencathra and the northern fells. Underfoot conditions are generally good for those used to trail running, but expect a bit of everything! The course has no stiles, so there is nothing but the hills and the infamous Bottomless Bogs of the Glenderaterra Valley to break up your rhythm.
A carnival atmosphere is guaranteed for both spectators and competitors, with live music, race commentary, food and drink all available at the start and finish. So, whether you're new to trail running, an experienced athlete, or simply looking for an unforgettable day out in the Lake District, a family-friendly, festival atmosphere and some amazing trail running awaits you!

Our Event Guide is now available to download. It contains all of the information you'll need to make sure you have a safe and enjoyable day. Even if you're a Lakeland Trails' regular, it's been 10 months since we last ran and there are a large number of changes to make sure we're 'covid-secure' so brew up and have a read through! The essential information you need is also shown in Final Details, also available to download.
We're going to make sure you have a great day but we want you, our crew & volunteers and locals to stay safe too!
The event will be taking place following all Government guidance on the return of outdoor sport so that it is covid-secure. We need you to play your part and help by making sure you follow all current guidance on social distancing and self-isolating, as well as following the measures we'll be putting in place both before and during the event.
Some activities, such as going to pubs or meeting friends inside their houses, present a higher risk than others. We would ask that you are careful in the 2 weeks before the event so you minimise this risk and you must not travel if you show any symptoms of covid-19.
It's really important you read and observe all of our guidelines so we can all be secure on the day.
We will be in contact about 7-10 days before the event to give you some choice of start time and we'll do our best to arrange for you to set off with family and / or friends (taking into account social distancing and social bubbles).
Race numbers will be posted out in advance so that you do not need to arrive before your start time.
Competitors will start in waves with the times below being the earliest start time (which corresponds to the time Registration would have closed).
