The Bridgedale Derwentwater Sport Trail is a new event for the Lakeland Trails™ Festival in Keswick, for those who want to experience a shorter version of the tough PUMA Lakeland Trails™ It is also ideal for the novice or younger runner, and for those new to the sport of trail running. This is the very first Derwentwater Sport Trail in Keswick.

Starting in Fitz Park, Keswick at 10.00am, the 4km Bridgedale Derwentwater Sport Trail follows a circuit along well marked and marshalled bridleways, trails and minor road finishing back at Fitz Park. It takes in panoramic views of the surrounding peaks of the Skiddaw and Blencathra range. Underfoot conditions are generally good, with a gradual climb. Check out the slide show of the course.
The start and finish arena will be quite a party, with live music from Milnthorpe Steel Band, a large Entertainment Marquee with a party programme, a beer tent, food stalls, retail stands, PA commentary, face painting, bouncy castle, bouncy slide and other entertainments.
There are great prizes on offer for the first three senior men & women (over 16) in the Bridgedale Derwentwater Sport Trail, and winners prizes for the first three boys and girls under 16. All the finishers receive a quality, engraved medal and will have a chance of winning a spot prize donated by local businesses.

There are children's Fun Trails too for under 8's to under 12's - short 400m laps around the finish arena for all abilities. Every finisher gets a specially engraved medal, and there are winner's prizes and junior spot prizes too.
The longer 14km PUMA Derwentwater Trail Race and Challenge sets off later in the day for more experienced trail runners. There are International world class runners competing, and it makes for quite a spectacle watching them finish.
