Now in it's 7th year, the 15km Derwentwater Trail (Race and Challenge) follow well marked and marshalled courses through some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in the Lake District. New for 2012 ! a shorter distance 10km Derwentwater Trail Run for those new to off road running..

Starting and finishing from Fitz Park, in Keswick (postcode : CA12 4NF), the 15km Derwentwater Trail Race and 15km Derwentwater Trail Challenge is a circuit along well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways takes in panoramic views of Lake Derwentwater and the surrounding peaks of the Skiddaw and Blencathra range and the northern lakeland fells.
Underfoot conditions are generally good for those used to trail running, but expect a bit of everything ! The course has no stiles, so there is nothing but the hills and the infamous Glendereterra bogs to break up your rhythm. Check out the slide show of the course.
The start and finish areas will be quite a party with an exciting atmosphere and live music
NEW for 2012! 10km Derwentwater Trail Run Limit 500 (start 11.00am) A shorter distance event for everyone, on a well marked and marshalled course, with graded runnable climbs and descents for those with off road running experience. The time limit is 2 hours for the 10km and to enter you must be at least 16 yrs old
The course has kilometre markers, there are some great prizes on offer for the Derwentwater Trail Race and 10km Run. All the finishers receive a quality, specially designed Lakeland Trails event memento and will have a chance of winning a spot prize donated by local businesses.
There are children's Derwentwater Fun Trails too for under 12's for all abilities. Every finisher gets a special medal.
