Welcome to the Puma Lakeland Trails™ in Hawkshead

The PUMA Hawkshead Trail Race and PUMA Hawkshead Challenge is a 15km course through some of the most scenic and varied countryside in the Lake District - Beatrix Potter country ! The 2009 race achieved a 98% overall approvals rating from the readers of Runnersworld magazine and was rated the 6th best overall running event in the UK.

Starting in Hawkshead village, the 15km PUMA Hawkshead Trail Race and PUMA Hawkshead Challenge follows a circuit along well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways takes in panoramic views of Lake Windermere and the surrounding peaks of the Coniston Hills, the Langdales and most of the Lakeland fells. Underfoot conditions are generally good, for those used to off-road running. Check out the slide show of the course.

The start and finish arena will be quite a party, with live music, food stalls, retail stands, PA commentary, face painting, bouncy castle, bouncy slide and other entertainments.

The course has kilometre markers and two water stations - one around half-way at the Sawrey Hotel, the other at the start of the infamous "Coffin Trail". There are great prizes on offer for the first men & women in the Trail Race, and winners prizes in the veteran classes. All the finishers receive a quality, specially designed event technical T shirt worth £20.00, and will have a chance of winning a spot prize donated by local businesses.

There are children's Fun Trails too for under 12's - short laps around the finish arena for all abilities. Every finisher gets a specially engraved medal, and there children's spot prizes too. All children's entries are taken on the day only.
