Now in it's 4th year, the 18km Cartmel Trail Race, 18km Cartmel Trail Challenge and 10km Sticky Toffee Trail Run take you on off road journeys through some of the most scenic and varied countryside in the Lake District - along a Beauty and Beast of a course. The courses are mainly along waymarked & marshalled footpaths and bridleways, giving panoramic views of both Morecambe Bay and the surrounding peaks. Underfoot conditions are variable with a bit of everything. Good fast sections, but it can be very sticky in places, especially if wet.

Starting at Cartmel Racecourse (postcode LA11 6QF), the 18km Cartmel Trail and 10km Cartmel Trail Run follow circuits along well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways giving panoramic views of Morecambe Bay and the surrounding peaks. Underfoot conditions are variable, with a bit of everything, with good fast sections, along with very sticky sections, especially if wet. Check out the slide show of the course.
The 18km Cartmel Trail is split into TWO events - the Challenge, for less competitive runners, novice trail runners and those who want to take it easy and enjoy the views. The Challenge sets off at 13.00 and you get an hour extra to complete the course. The Race sets off at 14.00 and is for competitive runners, with winners prizes and a shorter time limit.
The start and finish arena will be quite a party, with live music, food stalls, trade and retail stands, PA commentary, climbing wall, face painting, bouncy castle, bouncy slide and other entertainments.
The course has kilometre markers and two water stations - one at just over half-way at Bigland, the other at around 14km. There are great prizes on offer for the first men & women in the Trail Race, and winners prizes in the veteran classes. All the finishers receive a quality, specially designed event T shirt memento. Everyone will also have a chance of winning a spot prize donated by local businesses.
The 10km Sticky Toffee Trail Run, starts at 11am. There are children's Fun Trails too for under 12's - short laps around the finish arena for all abilities and every finisher gets a special medal. All children's entries are taken on the day only.
